Pulse diagnosis

The importance of pulse diagnosis

Although pulse diagnosis, in a differentiated form, was primarily introduced through the traditional medical systems of ancient China and India, a 3600-year-old Egyptian papyrus already contains a description of pulse examination. This demonstrates the great importance of this diagnostic procedure in various cultures from a very early stage.

In Chinese tradition, 32 different pulse qualities are distinguished, which are palpated at six locations on the forearm. Qualities such as speed, strength, size, rhythm, depth, and regularity are examined.

The interpretation allows the assessment of the condition of the organs and their functional relationships. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the pulse diagnosis serves as the basis for Acupuncture, prescription of herbs and dietary advice.

Note

I would like to point out that the naming of the listed illnesses does not constitute a promise of healing or a guarantee of relief or improvement of the listed conditions. The areas of application of naturopathy are based on the findings and experience of the therapeutic approaches themselves. There are no relevant, reliable scientific findings, i.e., evidence-based studies, that support the effect or therapeutic efficacy of naturopathy.

Some of the listed conditions require conventional medical evaluation or can be treated in a naturopathic practice alongside medical intervention. Your treating therapist will advise you whether treating your condition with naturopathic medicine alone, alongside medical intervention, or whether immediate specialist evaluation is necessary.
