Botanical name of goldenrod: Solidago virgaurea L.
Plant family: Asteraceae (Compositae)
Main botanical characteristics: Perennial, 30-100cm tall, upright, round stem, leaves alternate, ovate-elliptic, coarsely toothed, stalked, flowers bright golden yellow in terminal racemes, after flowering pappus with small flying bodies.
