Allergology

Allergology in naturopathy

Allergology is the branch of medicine that deals with the overactive immune system (allergy)

Allergies can be treated simply and effectively. While the substance that triggers the allergic reaction plays a secondary role in naturopathic treatment of pollinosis (hay fever), comprehensive laboratory diagnostics are often indicated for food allergies. In addition to avoiding allergens and alleviating acute symptoms, causal therapy should also be undertaken.

An allergy is the hypersensitivity of our immune system to foreign substances. Immune system The body forms defense cells to counter foreign substances and thus deals with them biologically. Such defense and protective reactions usually occur unnoticed and serve to protect our organism from harmful external influences.

In an allergy, the immune system reacts against certain foreign substances, disproportionate to their danger to our organism, with very strong reactions and produces the highly effective enzyme histamine.

Such substances are called allergens. They are usually organic substances such as pollen, pet hair, and food.

Allergy sufferers often have to accept significant reductions in their quality of life, spending most of their time indoors during the spring, or forgoing many foods altogether. This is compounded by severe symptoms such as a runny nose, itchy eyes, and breathing difficulties – or, in the case of food allergies, severe intestinal disturbances and skin rashes.

Causes of allergies

The genesis of allergic diseases is multifactorial. The adrenal glands, which secrete the anti-inflammatory hormone cortisol, play a central role. Every immune reaction in our body simultaneously leads to inflammation. If the adrenal glands are weak, the inflammatory reactions of the overactive immune system can no longer be controlled.

Intestinal disorders also play a key role in the development of allergies. On the one hand, the intestinal mucosa produces large amounts of histamine during infections to activate immune cells; on the other hand, an inflamed intestinal mucosa leads to increased permeability.

As a result, excessively long protein chains from the food pulp enter the blood and strain the immune system (type 3 allergy). Vitamin B12 absorption disorders in the small intestine can also disrupt hormone production in the endocrine glands and contribute to the pathogenesis of the allergy.
Allergies of the upper respiratory tract, such as allergic asthma and hay fever, are usually associated with microbial colonization of the mucous membranes or a lack of beneficial microorganisms.

For the treatment of allergic diseases, I offer individually tailored Naturopathy to:

For the treatment of acute allergies, I use the therapies of augmented Acupuncture and classical acupuncture. However, the causal treatment of your allergy should also take place during symptom-free periods.

Note

I would like to point out that the naming of the listed illnesses does not constitute a promise of healing or a guarantee of relief or improvement of the listed conditions. The areas of application of naturopathy are based on the findings and experience of the therapeutic approaches themselves. There are no relevant, reliable scientific findings, i.e., evidence-based studies, that support the effect or therapeutic efficacy of naturopathy.

Some of the listed conditions require conventional medical evaluation or can be treated in a naturopathic practice alongside medical intervention. Your treating therapist will advise you whether treating your condition with naturopathic medicine alone, alongside medical intervention, or whether immediate specialist evaluation is necessary.
