Pulse diagnosis

Although pulse examination in its various forms is primarily associated with Chinese and ayurvedic medicine, descriptions of the technique have been found in a Egyptian papyrus dating as far back as 3600 years.

This shows that the technique already had great significance for various cultures a very long time ago. According to Chinese tradition, there are 32 different pulse qualities that are read at six points on the forearm. Pulse diagnosis examines qualities such as speed, strength, size, rhythm, depth and regularity. The interpretation allows the doctor to assess the condition of the organs and functional relationships.

Pulse diagnosis constitutes the basis of acupuncture and herbal and dietary therapy.
